They have to get rid of those friends and seek to find friends that will encourage them not to do drugs. In the drug treatment center the drug addict will find new friends who have a similar story and want the same ending of recovering completely from drugs.

They share their stories with each other during group therapy sessions and create new bonds and friendships that can be carried over to the end of treatment.
